Walk For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

BY LOUIS C. WARD

LEESBURG – The Christian Worship Center (CWC) wants volunteers to “Run, Walk, and Represent” for their yearly Breast Cancer Walk event for Breast Cancer Awareness month Saturday, October 15, 2022.

It’s not too late to join up and be a part of an annual community effort to help eradicate breast cancer. Participants will assemble at 8 am at Leesburg Recreation Center at 1851 Griffin Road, Leesburg, Florida 34648.

“We hope to have at least 100 walkers this year, ” said Constance Christian, Co-Pastor of CWC and event coordinator.  “It’s important that we do all we can to support cancer research to find a cure for the disease that not only attacks women, but men as well.”

About 264,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women and about 2400 in men in the United States.  At least 42,000 women and 500 men in the United States die each year from breast cancer.  Black women have a higher rate of death from breast cancer than white women.
