ORLANDO – Three Orlando Health hospitals were named today as 2023 Top Hospitals by the Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health system. Top Hospitals are recognized for having better systems in place to prevent medication errors, practices for safer surgeries and lower infection rates, among other commendable qualities. The recognition is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive.

The Top Hospital and Top Teaching Hospital awards were earned by the following Orlando Health facilities:
Top General Hospital:
- Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital
Top Teaching Hospital:
- Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC)
- Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital
- To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must rank top among peers on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which assesses hospital performance on the highest standards for quality and patient safety. In November, five Orlando Health hospitals were recognized by the Leapfrog Group for patient safety and awarded ‘A’ grades. In addition to the three hospitals recognized as Top Hospitals, Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital and Orlando Health South Lake Hospital also received ‘A’ grades.
