KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The City of Kissimmee is hosting its annual Back to School Jam at the Chambers Park Community Center, located at 2380 N. Smith St., on July 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event aims to assist families by providing school supplies to children from kindergarten through 12th grade, helping alleviate the financial burden associated with the new school year.
Each child attending will receive a backpack filled with essential school items, which are available while supplies last. The event will feature activities including a live DJ, a 360-photo booth, a game truck, a Fun Spot with ring toss games, a kids zone, and bike raffles.
“Our goal is to ensure children have access to the necessary tools for a successful academic year, promoting educational equity and fostering community support,” said Parks and Recreation Director Steve Lackey. “This event also serves to strengthen community pride and solidarity among residents and local businesses who generously contribute to its success,” Lackey added.
Generous donations from Mount Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Kissimmee and the Women Encouraging Women nonprofit organization have significantly increased the supplies available.
Families and students are encouraged to participate in the back-to-school event. It promises to be a day filled with support, fun, and community spirit as the City prepares for the new school year.
