WINTER PARK – John Crossman welcomed Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) Acting President Dr. William Berry on the Crossman Conversation Saturday, Jan. 25. The discussion included the latest developments at B-CU and the importance of HBCUs.
Dr. Berry joined the faculty of Bethune-Cookman University in 2015 as a tenured professor. Many of his former students went on to achieve graduate degrees and outstanding professional careers. He was named Senior VP and Provost in 2021, Acting President in July 2023, served during the 2023-24 and now the 2024-25 academic years in that capacity. B-CU offers more than 40 degrees at its Daytona Beach main campus and online. It is one of three private, Historically Black Colleges in the state of Florida.
Crossman, a longtime promoter and supporter of HBCUs said students of B-CU have opportunities for three Crossman family endowed scholarships: (1) The Reverend Kenneth C. Crossman Endowed Scholarship (https://cookman.scalefunder.com/cfund/project/34468); (2) The Crossman Career Builders Endowed Real Estate Scholarship (https://cookman.scalefunder.com/cfund/project/34505); (3) The Cecily Crossman Endowed Literary Scholarship (https://cookman.scalefunder.com/cfund/project/34500).
“Dr. Berry reviewed the great things happening at B-CU and together we emphasized the importance of HBCUs where talented students and young professionals experience a strong sense of community and feel more encouraged,” Crossman said. “Listeners should be inspired to donate to one of B-CU’s Crossman Endowed Scholarships by visiting one of the above noted URLs, and every donation made on Saturday 1/25 will be matched,” he added.
