Black History Month, Auditions, Comedy Skippy “FamilyTies” Auditions: Harvey by Mary Chase

Tue., January 31 & Thu., February 2, 6:30PM-8PM

The Ritz Theater is seeking 11 actors for its non-equity production of Harvey, directed by Adam Cornett. Set in the 1940s, Harvey tells the tale of Elwood P. Dowd and his best friend Harvey, who just happens to be a six-foot tall invisible rabbit. Character interactions provide a funny and poignant look at the importance of family, love, and the individual’s role within society and their relation to society as a whole. During auditions, actors will be asked to complete a rehearsal application (available to download from and read from the script. All roles are open and it is not necessary to attend both dates. Character descriptions are available on our website.

Ritz Classic Movies: Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner

When Joanna Drayton, a free-thinking white woman, and black doctor John Prentice become engaged, they travel to San Francisco to meet her parents. Matt Drayton and his wife Christina are wealthy liberals who must confront the latent racism the coming marriage arouses. Also attending the dinner are Prentice’s parents, who vehemently disapprove of the relationship. A Black History Month program in partnership with the City of Sanford. $5 cash at the door.

Solitary Man: Tribute to Neil Diamond

Veteran vocalist David Jericko brings his considerable talent to the stage with a tribute to music icon, Neil Diamond. Backed by The Crew, a band of professional musicians who have performed with some of the industry’s biggest stars, David embodies the essence of Neil Diamond in this concert. From Solitary Man to Love on the Rocks to Comin’ To America…you will “feel Neil”.  Tickets: $23-$30

Battle of the Ages! Multi-Generational Comedy Show

This multi-generational comedy experience appeals to parents and their adult kids alike. It’s a roast of the generations featuring Marc Price (Skippy from Family Ties, and star of the film Trick or Treat with Gene Simmons and Ozzie Osborne.) This wickedly funny show co-stars comedian Eugene Torres (currently touring with Carlos Mencia and a big hit on Fox), and Lorrie Brownstone (a short New York grandma who is tall on talent.) Tickets: $23-$30

The Edwards Twins: Master Celebrity Impersonators

The Edwards brothers use state-of-the-art 3-D make-up artistry to look like the music superstars of today and yesterday. More than that, you will find it hard to believe you are not actually hearing a live performance by such greats as Elton John, Tom Jones, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Sonny & Cher, and many more. Tickets: $50-$55

Sanford Jazz Ensemble Black History Month Concert
Sun., February 19 at 3PM
The band will honor the great composers and band leaders Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Thelonious Monk, and the program will conclude with a medley of Stylistics songs including You Make Me Feel Brand New and Betcha By Golly Wow. $20
