Call For Actors For Ritz Theater’s “Harvey By Mary Chase”

SANFORD — The Ritz Theater in Sanford announces it will be holding auditions at 203 S. Magnolia, Avenue in Sanford on Tuesday, January 31 and Thursday, February 2 from 6:30PM to 8PM for the straight play Harvey by Mary Chase. Director Adam Cornett seeks 11 actors for this production.

Actors will be asked to complete a rehearsal application (available on our website) and read from the script. Monologues nor attendance on both days is required. All roles are open. A list of rehearsal dates will be available and actors will be asked to provide any conflicts. Please note that some casting decisions might be based, in part, on actor availability. This is a non-equity non-profit professionally managed theater production. Actors are volunteers and are not paid. The play opens to the public on Friday, April 28 for 7 shows with the last on May 7, 2023.

Set in the 1940s, Harvey tells the tale of Elwood P. Dowd and his best friend Harvey, who just happens to be a six-foot tall invisible rabbit. Character interactions provide a funny and poignant look at the importance of family, love, and the individual’s role within society and their relation to society as a whole.
