Central Florida Black Nurses Association Of Orlando Celebrates Black History Month

BY DR. JUNE ROBINSON

ORLANDO – What a joy it is to worship together!

On Sunday, February 12, 2023, the Central Florida Black Nurses Association of Orlando celebrated BLACK HISTORY MONTH by attending The Worship Center, Orlando, located at 8001 Silver Star Rd., Orlando.  Pastor Frank Thompson fired up the congregation by reminding us of how far we as Black people have advanced in this country. How the church has helped to build our dignity and strengthened us with spiritual fortitude to survive and thrive in the community.

The Central Florida Black Nurses Association (CFBNA) of Orlando showed our support of this celebration with 25 members in attendance.  Pastor Thompson introduced our group and invited Dr. Sankey, our president, to offer greetings from our members.

The church choir was outstanding, the praise dancer was magnificent, and the youngsters who presented speeches from former and present Black activists were heart-warming.

Pastor Thompson made us all feel as if he knew each and every one of us.  What a warm and welcoming sentiment radiated throughout the sanctuary.  We left the service feeling uplifted and valued.

CFBNA continues our work in the community, bringing health education, health equity and sharing health resources with the Central Florida community.  We continue this volunteer service to our community because we understand that for those who have – much is expected.  We have been blessed as nurses and want to share our talent and knowledge with our community.
