ORLANDO – Central Florida Black Nurses Association of Orlando, Inc. (CFBNA) is proud to have participated in the 12th annual Orange County – “Jazz in the Park” event sponsored by Mayor Jerry L. Demings.  The location was the beautiful Cypress Grove Park on Holden Ave. in Orlando, from 12 noon to 6 pm.  The musicians were fantastic, and the weather cooperated by keeping the rain away.  Yvonne Coleman, a former Disc Jockey at a local radio station, was the MC.  Great job done!

CFBNA had a booth and performed blood pressure screenings, measurement of Body Mass Index (BMI) that screens for weight categories that may lead to health problems, health education, referrals to health providers or insurance navigators (if needed) and data was collected for a cardiovascular risk assessment on each participant.  Health education counseling and appropriate literature were distributed as requested and needed.  At least 100 attendees stopped by our booth with inquiries about their health or the heath of a loved one.  We performed 50 blood pressure screenings.  We had a medical emergency that required the intervention of the Fire and Rescue squad, who were on the grounds.  Thank goodness that we were there to perform the necessary triage.  The attendee was taken to the hospital because of our quick assessment.
