LEESBURG – Leesburg residents received a full plate of seafood, chicken seasoned with lemon pepper, chicken and beef tacos, spicy rice, cabbage, collard greens, peach cobbler, lemon or red velvet cake, drink, and more at Christian Worship Center’s (CWC) first “Lunch on Us “event Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 11:30 am to 1 pm.
A future chef, 17-year-old Leesburg High School student Alencia Owens, was among the food vendors who took over CWC’s parking lot at 1414 E Main Street, Leesburg, Florida, to serve free and tasty food. Distributing her original and delicious chicken and beef tacos, Alencia’s tacos were a big hit.
Ms. Molly Bloomer, a CWC congregation member, said the event was “the greatest, and I love the people.”
It was obvious Deacon Ghent was enjoying his meal because he was quiet. “I don’t talk while I’m eating.”
For ninety minutes some Leesburg residents sat down at the tables and fellowshipped and ate, others took a plate to go. Either way, it was an enjoyable and memorable event.
“This was an opportunity for CWC to interact with our community positively – feeding them a variety of great food prepared by our community entrepreneurs and fellowshipping with each other”, said CWC’s Senior Pastor John Christian.
Community entrepreneurs who participated were Alencia Owens, Tara Johnson, Davetta Kelly, Holly Kelly, T Niblack, Lenzy Hodge, and the Stevenson Family.
