LEESBURG – The Criterion Civic Club, a professional women’s organization, celebrated and welcomed with open arms the young ladies of the Silhouette Civic Club, Inc., its daughter organization, with a brunch on January 25, 2025, at the Porch on Pruitt Street, Leesburg, Fla.

The Criterions started in 1954 and the Silhouette Club started in 1988. Both civic organizations provide support to many Lake County Community organizations and scholarships to local high school seniors.

The Criterion Founder’s Day committee, Frederica Mack, Theresa Jackson, and Georgette Ward enlisted sister Bettye Coney to help coordinate the program.

Bettye Coney, a longstanding member of the Criterions, stated, “This event had been put off for too long. It was an amazing success. Words of wisdom, and invites to more activities of both clubs is forth coming.”

“Thank you for honoring us at the Founder’s Day gathering,” said Silhouette President Nicole Rolle. “We thoroughly enjoyed the food and getting to know you activities. What made the day special was our restored commitment to fellowship and support of one another.”

A plaque was given to each participant as a token of love. It featured the head of two women praying. Also each Silhouette member was given a pad and pen, plus a pink rose, which is their logo.

The white tablecloths, green leaves, white and pink rose petals, a glass vase with a light and red sparkled rose decorated the room.

Commenting on the event, Criterion President Brenda Major Jones said, “The most enjoyable brunch ever! Fun rewarding games and a beautiful gathering of sisters learning from each other.”
