Hankins Johnson Education Foundation Golf Classic Crowns New Champion

ORLANDO – The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Delta Xi Lambda Chapter in partnership with the Hankins Johnson Education Foundation sponsored the 2nd Annual Hankins Johnson Education Foundation Golf Classic on September 22nd at Eagle Creek Golf Club which was a big success thanks to our golfers, sponsors, and supporters.  The event had 120 golfers competing for a worthy cause. Proceeds will fund scholarships, Young Men of Distinction (YMOD) mentoring program, Head Start to Literacy Initiative, and other foundation programs and projects. The foundation awarded $33,000 in scholarships this year.

The longest drive female was Lenora Woods-Schexnayder, and longest drive male was Ryan Fletcher. The closest to the pin female was Loida Strong and male was Linwood Harris. The putting contest was won by Daniel Augustus, IV.  The Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi finished 3rd with a 55. Their team included Alfonzo Gainey, Kevin Jackson, Linwood Harris, and Booker Wright.  Our runner-up team shot a 54 and included Thomas Bonds, Tommy Hamilton, Ken Burney, and Thomas Flewellyn.  The Peralta Design team captured the 2023 Hankins Johnson Education Foundation Golf Classic championship with a 53 which was 20 under. Players included Ramon Peralta, Emilio Garcia, Jr., Doug Taylor, and Mike Hendrickson.
