ORANGE COUNTY – Orange County has opened warming centers to provide the community with a place to get out of the cold, and the county has contracted Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to help provide hot meals at two of those locations.
Recently, the Plate Above Catering team prepared 240 hot dinners, loaded them up into vans and delivered them to an East Orlando site as well as one in West Orlando.
The organization provided 240 hot dinners each night that these two centers were open. As the region’s largest emergency food provider, Second Harvest stands ready to respond in real-time to community needs – such as a hurricane or other disaster.
They made meatballs, cut Italian veggies, simmered marinara sauce to pair with rotini pasta and baked dozens of breadsticks.
