WINTER PARK – “I Am Still Puzzled” by artist Linda Mills Alexander’s is currently on display at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center.  The quilted mix-media, is Alexander’s artistic response to the poem entitled “Puzzled” by Valada Flewellyn.  “I Am Still Puzzled” was unveiled at a recent Puzzled Peace reception, held at the Winter Park Community Center.  The art represents Alexander’s response to the issue of African American History being removed from the Florida Public schools and colleges.  The art presents information about Black History and early Black education for the viewer to read and interpret. Linda Mills Alexander was the first artist invited to the Puzzled Peace Initiative.  She will be featured in the next issue in an article written by Dr. Rebekah McCloud, guest writer to The Orlando Times newspaper. Honoring The Association for the Study of African American Life and History’s (ASALH) theme for 2024 “African Americans and the Arts” other Puzzled Peace Initiative artists will be featured in future issues.
