KISSIMMEE – The City of Kissimmee Police Department announces its latest initiative, the Vacation Watch Program. This program allows residents of single-family homes to notify the police department when their homes will be vacant during vacation periods. Residents can complete a registration form online, providing information that will help officers monitor their property while they are away.
The program is managed by the Community Engagement Unit (CEU). Applications submitted by residents are reviewed, and the pertinent information is distributed to officers who patrol the areas.
Residents of single-family homes are encouraged to submit their request forms at least 14 days before their departure but no earlier than 30 days prior. This timeline allows the police department to process the request and obtain any necessary clarifying information. The Vacation Watch Program accepts requests for monitoring periods ranging from three to 31 consecutive days.
The program was created to provide innovative ways to serve the community and prevent crime. “The Vacation Watch Program is intended to give residents peace of mind while they are on vacation,” Chief of Police Betty Holland added. “The information provided can be crucial in preventing crime or reaching a local emergency contact if needed.”
Residents of single-family homes can visit the City of Kissimmee website at kissimmee.gov/vacationwatch for more information about the program’s terms and conditions or to fill out a Vacation Watch request form. Alternatively, residents can also email the Community Engagement Unit at [email protected].
