ORLANDO – Leesburg Florida Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., with Kappa Leaguers and parents traveled to Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando, Florida, to assist in the mission of distributing food to neighbors who need help in the Central Florida area on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Through The Kappa League Mentorship Program, Kappa Alpha Psi’s Leesburg Alumni Chapter continues to work with middle and high school young men in the Lake and Sumter counties. While assisting with the food distribution at Second Harvest Food Bank, the Kappa Leaguers packed more than 14,000 meals.
According to Robin Mitchell, a Kappa League parent, “many of us take the availability of food for granted, knowing that we don’t have to think about where our next meal is coming from. The reality is that more and more adults and children have to deal with food insecurity.
“Volunteering at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida gave the Kappa League young men and their parents an opportunity to see how great the need is and to participate in combating that challenge,” concluded Ms. Mitchell.
