ORLANDO – “Tackle Your Talent” Scholarship Luncheon/Program – The Kenard Lang Foundation awarded twelve (12) $1,000.00 scholarships to twelve (12) local/Central Florida/Florida high-school seniors. Each student received $1,000.00 to assist them with their college expenses. The Scholarship Luncheon was held on May 13, 2023, 12:00 noon, New Covenant Baptist Church, Orlando, Florida. A Meet and Greet was held for the recipients and their families which afforded them the opportunity to learn more about the Kenard Lang Foundation and its supporters. Thank you to everyone for your support. The Community Award was presented to BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation in the amount of $500.00. Scholarships/Programs are funded by a NFL Foundation Grant, the 12th Man and Community Donors. Save the Date – May 11, 2024.
“Back-to-School Fair” – The “Back-to-School Fair” (school supplies) was held on August 1, 2023, 7:00am, Target Super Store, Winter Garden Village, Winter Garden, Florida. The goal of the “Back-to-School Fair” is to equip each student with their own Treasure Chest of tools to meet classroom success on a daily basis. Target partnered with the Kenard Lang Foundation to assist students/families prepare for a successful start of the school-year. Target provided breakfast for the students/families and volunteers. The Social Worker (OCPS) is a vital part of the program and with her assistance, identifies and contacts the families with the most need. The Social Worker then informs the students/families of the date, time and location of the “Back-to-School Fair”. Forty-three (43) students/families shopped for school supplies. A staff member of the Pine Hills Community Center shopped for school supplies for the Pre-K students (100). On August 8, 2023, the Kenard Lang Foundation provided a second “Back-to-School Fair” for twenty-four (24) additional students. Thank you to Target Super Store, Vince Williams (Retired NFL – Pittsburgh Steelers) for your generous donation of Backpacks and the volunteers. The program was funded by a NFL Foundation Grant, Grand Slam Fundraiser and the community.
The Annual Kenard Lang Foundation Charity Golf Tournament – The Annual Kenard Lang Foundation Charity Golf Tournament was held on June 17, 2023, Orange County National Golf Resort, Winter Garden, Florida. The Golf Tournament serves as an additional resource to supplement the programs of the Kenard Lang Foundation. Thank you to Discount Golf Balls for your generous donation of golf balls for the golfers’ souvenir bags. First Place Winners – Orlando Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc. Second Place Winners – Miller’s Ale House, Jacksonville, Florida. Third Place Winners – Orlando Alumni Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Closest to the Pin – JoeAnn I. Lys.
