TAVARES – Beginning September 9th, the Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office will be visiting local high schools as part of the 2024 High School Voter Registration Challenge, an outreach program to educate, encourage, and pre-register/register future voters.
“Our outreach team will kick-off the challenge at two-time challenge winner Mt. Dora High School. The challenge provides us with the opportunity to share with students the importance of voting and why they should be engaged in the election process,” said Alan Hays, Lake County Supervisor of Elections. “I would like to thank Superintendent Kornegay as well as each principal and educator for their support and efforts during this outreach experience,” further commented Hays.
The High School Voter Registration Challenge is a competition among local high schools where the school with the most voter registrations is presented with a permanent plaque to display at their school and a traveling trophy to display for one year. Students 16-17 years of age may pre-register to vote and those 18+ may register to vote during the challenge period.
The following is a list of schools and dates for the High School Voter Registration Challenge.
