Former Leesburg City Commissioner John Christian, who served 19 years as Commissioner of District 2, received a plaque recognizing his dedicated service to the Leesburg Community from his fellow commissioners at its general monthly meeting Monday evening, January 9, 2023.

During his tenure as commissioner, John Christian and other commissioners were instrumental in improving the quality of life of Leesburg residents by building a recreation center, a state of the art swimming pool, increasing income to the city and more.  In John Christian’s own words: “We changed Leesburg!”

“Working for Pastor has been an absolute honor.  John’s long list of accomplishments will leave his finger prints on Leesburg for generations to come,” Leesburg City Manager Al Miner said. “More importantly, I am humbled by how he constantly kept the message of diversity included in most everything we tackled.”

Mayor Jimmy Burry presented the plaque to the former District 2 Commissioner.
