ORLANDO – Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida recently gathered two dozen community leaders around the table to discuss the needs of residents in Orlando’s District 5.
On Monday, Sept. 30, Derrick Chubbs, president and CEO of Second Harvest, was joined by Orlando Commissioner Shan Rose along with representatives from four of the food bank’s community feeding partners in District 5. The conversation was designed to generate ideas to better serve neighbors facing homelessness, affordable housing, workforce training, transportation and other needs.
While Second Harvest Food Bank is distributing enough food for 300,000 meals a day, one in eight Central Floridians – and one in six local children – is at risk of experiencing hunger on any given day.
