ORANGE COUNTY – The Orange County Board of County Commissioners met on April 30, 2024, and unanimously voted to place the Orange County Schools half-cent sales tax on the November ballot. The election will allow voters of Orange County to continue the half-cent sales tax to continue funding schools.

A copy of the general ballot was sent to the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office on May 24, 2024, and processed by the office for placement on the November ballot on the morning of June 6, 2024. The office has subsequently begun drafting the placement of the half-cent sales tax on the ballot ahead of November.

The half-cent sales tax for OCPS is not under legal review, indeed it will be on the November ballot as requested.

“As a former school member, I find it disappointing that some people are advancing the false notion that the school’s half-cent sales tax is under legal review and may not be on the November ballot. Let me assure you the sales tax measure will be on the November ballot and the voters of Orange County will be able to make their voices heard on this important issue,” said Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean.
