ORANGE COUNTY – Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean announced today the launch of a comprehensive audit of the Elections Office’s operations to ensure the incoming Supervisor of Elections will receive an office in top condition. This proactive measure, conducted by the respected audit firm Cherry Bekaert, will evaluate best practices and essential processes within the Office.
“Having a full, transparent assessment of our capabilities is vital for a seamless transition and to continue providing the exceptional service Orange County residents deserve,” said Supervisor Gilzean. “When I took office, a similar audit would have greatly benefited me and allowed for smoother operations from the start.”
Upon his appointment, Gilzean immediately began instituting efficiencies, which resulted in the successful administration of six elections and nearly $4.7 million in savings. These funds were reinvested into the community, including delivering $709,393.85 back to Orange County taxpayers, creating scholarships for students in low-income communities, and partnering with CareerSource to offer job training to temporary election workers.
“I am incredibly proud of the work our team has done to save taxpayer dollars while enhancing services. This audit will help ensure the Office is left better than I found it, and I am committed to setting up my successor for success,” added Gilzean.
The audit’s findings will position the Office to remain a model of electoral integrity, ready to meet the needs of Orange County voters for years to come.
