KISSIMMEE – There is an exciting new look at the Chambers Park Community Center thanks to the Orlando Magic, AdventHealth, and GAF. Thanks to an exciting partnership the basketball court, teen activity room and community garden at Chambers Park have been refurbished.
The court design commemorates the Orlando Magic’s 35th anniversary and is inspired by the classic court the team plays select games on at the Kia Center. At the court dedication 60 youth from the Chambers Park Community Center afterschool program were in attendance to be part of a basketball clinic on the new court where they had the opportunity to meet former Orlando Magic players and Magic Ambassadors Bo Outlaw and Nick Anderson along with current Magic players Chuma Okeke and Caleb Houstan.
“We are honored to hit the court with community partners like the Orlando Magic and AdventHealth, united in our mission to enrich the lives of the youth of Kissimmee” says City Manager Mike Steigerwald.
During the event, the Orlando Magic honored City of Kissimmee employee Tanya Williams who is a surviving relative of Cornelius Chambers, the namesake of Chambers Park Community Center. Cornelius Chambers was from Kissimmee and fought and died in the Vietnam War. The Chambers Park Community Center carries on his legacy of giving back to his community.
Chambers Park Community Center is located at 2380 Smith Street, Kissimmee, FL and offers afterschool programs, community events, and camps throughout the year, while also serving as a neighborhood playground, basketball court, and community garden for North Kissimmee residents.
