ORLANDO – The Hankins Johnson Education Foundation in conjunction with Delta Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., hosted its sixth “Phrozen Jewel Run 5K/10K” fun run/walk. On Saturday, June 8th, the virtual race kicked off at 7:06 am with runners and walkers from around the world. Participants had one week to submit their time. The in person walk/run was Saturday, June 15th at Blanchard Park at 7:06 am.

This fun event is continuing to grow and shares a message about how important it is for us to move and be active for better health. The funds from this event help fund our Young Men of Distinction (YMOD) mentoring program which focuses on developing middle and high school students.

In the 5K category, the top female runners were Yolanda Stevens – 1st place, Shurell Reader – 2nd place, and Tamara Nelson – 3rd place. Top three male runners were Paul Releford – 1st place, Frantz Charlestin – 2nd place, and Juan Ardila – 3rd place.

The top three 10K female runners were Alyx Henry – 1st place, Hannah Lewis – 2nd place, and Alysha Jenkins – 3rd place. Top three 10K male runners were Jermaine Lamar – 1st place, Owen Kingery – 2nd place, and Kenny Johnson – 3rd place.

We appreciate all our participants, supporters, and sponsors. The increase in sponsors this year means more funding for our mentoring program.
