ORLANDO – Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida’s Young Professionals Committee was recently recognized for its dedication to fighting hunger by the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals during its annual National Philanthropy Day celebration.
On Friday, Nov. 15, the group was presented with a plaque for “Innovation & Excellence in Fundraising” for conceptualizing and launching key events, such as an annual Trivia Night, as well as partnering with Orlando Advanced Pickleball to host a tournament that generated enough funding to provide 11,000 meals for local kids, families and seniors facing hunger.
The former chair, Greg Fornadel, was also honored with the “Emerging Leader in Philanthropy” award for helping to build the committee’s reputation and positioning it as a model organization for similar-minded young professionals dedicated to serving other nonprofits.
