ORANGE COUNTY – More than 1,550 military and overseas citizen ballots are coming to Orange County voters serving or residing abroad.

“This is a crucial first step in the lead-up to the November General Election to ensure that our brave servicemen and servicewomen have their ballots in hand with ample time to make their voices heard,” said Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean. “We are deeply committed to honoring their service and sacrifice by ensuring they have every opportunity to participate in our democracy. Our staff has been working tirelessly to prepare for the General Election and mailing these ballots is just the first step in delivering for the voters of Orange County.”

In 1986, Congress passed the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), paving the way for military members, their families, and US citizens outside the United States to vote in federal elections.
