The City Of Kissimmee Police Department Completes Drug & Violence Prevention Program For Kids

KISSIMMEE – The Kissimmee Police Department (KPD) and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida completed a pilot program aimed at teaching the Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence (L.E.A.D.) curriculum to children ages 9 to 11 at the Tupperware Brands Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.

L.E.A.D. is a law enforcement-focused, anti-drug, anti-violence curriculum designed for K-12 students in the U.S. The 10-week program equips youth with the knowledge and skills to resist peer pressure and make positive choices without resorting to drugs or violence.

Officers within the Kissimmee Police Department’s Community Engagement Unit dedicated their time and resources to teach the L.E.A.D. curriculum to fifth grade club members. This initiative represents a collaborative effort between law enforcement and the local community to educate youth on making informed decisions and leading drug-free, violence-free lives.

Chief Betty Holland of the Kissimmee Police Department stated, “The completion of this pilot program marks an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to empower young people with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges safely. We are grateful for the partnership with the Tupperware Brands Branch Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida and remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote the well-being of our youth.”

Both the Kissimmee Police Department and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida will evaluate its effectiveness and consider opportunities for future implementation to benefit more children in the community.
