ORANGE COUNTY – With the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming August Primary Election less than a week away, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office is partnering with the Osceola County Supervisor of Elections and the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections to host a voter helpline at WKMG News 6 all day Tuesday to answer questions and help voters prepare for the August and November elections.
Voters wishing to participate in the August 20 Primary Election have until Monday, July 22 to register to vote or declare a party affiliation. Because Florida is a closed primary state, voters will need to choose a party if they wish to participate in that party’s primary election.
The voter helpline (1-888-436-6665) will be open until 7 pm with staff from all three supervisors of elections offices on hand to answer any questions, help voters register, update their registration, or request a vote-by-mail ballot.
Under Florida law vote-by-mail ballot requests expired following the 2022 General Election. If voters want to vote by mail in the August Primary Election, they will need to request a ballot. The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the primary is August 8.
Currently, more than 83,000 Orange County voters have requested a vote-by-mail ballot, with the office preparing to mail its first batch of ballots this week.
“It is great to have a community partner like WKMG News 6 to help us spread the word about the deadlines for the August Primary Election,” said Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean. “With the help of Mary Jane Arrington, Chris Anderson, and the amazing staff from our three offices we have been able to reach thousands of voters across Central Florida providing valuable information as we head into August and November.”
