ORLANDO – Washington Shores Church of Christ is pleased to announce Pastor Trevonte T. Peterson, Sr. will be the New Senior Pastor as of January 1, 2024. He and his family are relocating from the Sweetwater Church of Christ, in Jacksonville, FL. As we transition and grow towards the future, we are so honored to introduce him to our members, as well as to the Washington Shores and the tri-county communities.
As a proud product of the State of Alabama, Pastor Trevonte T. Peterson, Sr. hails from the small city of Greenville, AL where he developed a love and sense of compassion for others. Even as a child, he exemplified a spirit of devotion and care for the needs of others more than his own. His grandmother, Janice Petersons’ faith, love, and prayers reared him into the person he is today. These early years laid the foundation for the life and the ministry of this humble servant of God.
Ever since his youth, he has used his time of preparation by serving as a youth minister in his home congregation beginning at the age of 15. In 2019, after finishing his undergrad, he accepted the Minister’s position at the Sweetwater Church of Christ in Jacksonville, FL. Here, he was driven to touch hearts and inspire the lives of all generations by serving faithfully as Minister from 2019-2023.
Throughout his life, he has been looked upon as a leader in the church and community. As an emerging intellectual influencer and dedicated servant of this present age, Pastor Petersons’ ministry meets at a critical crossroads of Christianity and Community. By bridging the gap, he believes that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is sufficient to tie every generation to God that is willing to accept it. His commitment to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ has provided many opportunities to spread his convictions across generations in the United States and abroad.
Pastor Trevonte T. Peterson is a graduate of Faulkner University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies. Currently, he is a Master of Divinity student at Virginia Union University. He is a proud member of The Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and an avid hunter and fisherman. He is married to Marissa Peterson and they have two beautiful children, Makynlee (8) and Trevonte Jr (2).
As the newly elected Senior Pastor of Washington Shores Church of Christ, Pastor Peterson looks forward to leading in service to the community of Washington Shores through Washington Shores Church of Christ as we embrace a multigenerational paradigm shift in hopes of creating the beloved community.
