LEESBURG – People received gift cards valued from $10 to $15 and were educated about upcoming elections, garnered information about various services offered by various community organizations and social service agencies at the Fall Festival held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Berry Park in Carver Heights, Leesburg, Florida.

Sponsored by the West Leesburg Community Development Corporation (WLCDC), the Fall Festival was a first-time event for the community organization that has a mission to improve the quality of life for its residents with affordable housing, educational and social service programs.

“Our first Fall Festival was a great way to give back to our community for the holiday,” said Fred Griffin, President of the WLCDC. “It was truly a blessing to see the families come out and enjoy themselves.  I look forward to our 2nd Annual Fall Festival; bigger and better.”

While adults took advantage of the provisions various vendors offered, youth were enjoying the hamburgers, franks, cotton candy, snow cones, drinks, and an ole fashioned hayride.

“I had a great time,” said Timothy Kinsy, a 16 -year-old Leesburg High School student, who won a bottle of Invincible cologne.

“Events such as this allows us to combat misinformation by sharing election facts and provides voters the opportunity to be election ready in 2024… we look forward to future participation,” said Tina Dawson, manager, Lake County Supervision of Elections.

The Fall Festival was coordinated by Simone Price with assistance from Cassandra Cunningham, Yolanda Green, Pastor Tony Hardy, Linda Mobley, Trevorblack Morman, D’mani Nettles, Simone Price, and Mary Tucker.  Music was provided by D.J Charles Wright.
